I asked people to lend me button-front shirts they wear frequently. Using them as an artistic medium, I promised that while they will be returned with the mark of my ‘handiwork,’ they will be treated with care and will not be destroyed. I added buttonholes on the side panel where the buttons actually are, i.e. if the buttons are on the right side, the additional buttonholes I made are on the right and vice-versa if buttons were on the left. Upon receiving back their shirts, they’re able to wear them as usual and the additional buttonholes do not alter the outward appearance of the shirts. They see these extraneous buttonholes only when they put on and take off the shirts. It is at these moments that my works appear and visually intervene in people’s daily life.
