I reproduced images of bullet holes made through glass in adhesive transparencies and attached them on the glass windows and doors at a museum. These marks create a setting of a ‘virtual accident,’ where there are no perpetrators or victims, just a visual remnant of an action that never took place. The shattered, bullet-ridden surface is a metaphor for our society. The inanimate sheets of glass that have been covered with bullet marks are only perforated surfaces and cannot retaliate against the assault. We, too, have sometimes been unable to respond as humans to overwhelming events or pressures and become numb. In our bewildered stupor, we are like these virtual surfaces. Changed lines 50-52 from:
