OUTLINE_2 (2007-)

Carving an OUTLINE on the surface of each block of stone.
Carving an OUTLINE in three dimensions.
Printing an OUTLINE in two dimensions.

Creating a printing implement like the ‘Inkan’ (Japanese name stamp) requires carving the characters onto the flat plane of one end of the wood or stone block. Extending the carved lines onto the side planes of the stone extends the imprint possibilities of each block, effectively translating the three-dimensional aspect of the block onto paper.

Making an OUTLINE in three dimensions is a way of making variable OUTLINES in two dimensions.
