Making Fire (2006-)

’SET THE MUSEUM ON FIRE'

Within the confines of a museum where preservation of material culture is paramount, I started a fire using the ancient, friction-based method of rapidly spinning between one’s palms a wooden spindle set upon a grooved piece of wood. I used infrared thermographic imaging to record the process, rendering the lit fire created in saturated colors.
